Breast Lift Surgery in Medicine Hat, Alberta
Breast lift surgery is performed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. Loose, excess skin is removed and the surrounding breast tissue will be tightened to support the new contour of your chest.
Over time breasts loose their firmness, skin looses elasticity and your areolas — the dark skin around your nipples — can become quite large, a breast lift will correct this.
Your Initial Consultation
At the time of your initial consultation you will meet with Dr. Brooks to discuss your breast lift goals in detail. The surgical steps of your procedure will be explained and all of your questions will be answered.
Every patient has a unique shape with specific surgical requirements, your breast lift surgery will be tailored to meet your unique needs.
Incisions for Breast Lift Surgery
Incisions can be made around your areola, from the base of your nipple down to the breast crease, or directly on the surface skin of your breast — above and below your nipple. Dr. Brooks will choose the best incision option for you.
Once the incision is made, your breast tissue will be lifted and reshaped to improve the contour and firmness of your breasts. Your nipple and areola will be repositioned and loose, excess breast skin will be removed.
Anesthesia
General anesthesia is used so you will be extremely comfortable and asleep during your procedure.
Length of Surgery & Recovery Time
Breast lift surgery takes about 1 to 2 hours to perform. Once you are awake, and our recovery team has cleared you to go, your arranged ride can drive you home. Your chest may feel tight and sore for the first 3 to 7 days, your pain medication will help alleviate any discomfort. Plan to take about 5 to 7 days off work for rest and recovery.
You will see the results of your breast lift immediately. Post surgical swelling will take a few weeks to resolve and your incision lines will continue to fade over time.
